Pro Chef Tries To Make A Fried Chicken Sandwich Faster Than Delivery | Taking On Takeout

Once the longing for a fried chicken sandwich hits, it’s usually time for you to go to the local takeout joint. What should you could scratch that itch from your personal kitchen? We challenged DeVonn Francis to fry up and serve a chicken sandwich quicker than it requires for delivery to reach. Was he to the challenge?

Recipe below:


Fried Chicken: 

Peanut oil, for frying  

4 skin-on, boneless chicken thighs (a couple of lbs)  

1 large egg

one and a half cups buttermilk

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

½ cup panko

Dash red pepper cayenne

1 teaspoon. espelette

1 teaspoon. ground mace 

1 Tablespoons of. sweet paprika

1 teaspoon. onion powder

1 teaspoon. ground chiles de árbol

Kosher salt

Freshly ground pepper


¼ mind red cabbage 

¼ mind eco-friendly cabbage

¼ cup mayonnaise, preferably Kewpie 

1 Tablespoons of. honey or agave syrup

Juice of just oneOrtwo lime

1 Tablespoons of. white-colored vinegar

Kosher salt 

Peppa sauce:

1 scotch bonnet pepper, stem removed 1 bunch scallions, roughly chopped

1 teaspoon. ground allspice (pimento)

2 pickled guindilla peppers1 cup pickling liquid from guindilla peppers or white-colored vinegar or perhaps a combination

1 Tablespoons of. light brown sugar1 teaspoon. kosher salt

Set up:

Brioche buns


:00 Introduction

1:21 Heat oil to 350°

2:00 Season and dredge chicken

3:57 Make slaw

5:40 Fry chicken at 350° until cooked through

5:50 Make Peppa sauce

6:48 Toast bun

7:08 Assemble

7:30 Taste!
